During the last 17 years, Koh Phan Gan attracted an steady growing amount of guests. More of them religiously find their way back each holiday to Phangan. What brings back those Koh Phangan lovers? Well, there is lot of reasons why one should visit Koh Phangan. Even though it is quite small in geographical terms many kinds of visitors can find their own place on the island. If you ask me, you should really think about traveling to Phangan.
The Full Moon Party started with a not many backpackers enjoying a party on Haad Rin East Side in the late 80's. They had a party in the magnificent moon light and an increasing amount of people turned up every month. Today there are a estimated number of 6000-14000 hippies who are having a good time and dancing to trance, jungle, drum n' bass, trance, and other music styles.Skilled dj's deliver the beats from the restaurants at Haad Rin and from the beach.
Kohphangan has unnumbered beautiful beaches and jungle, a few of them only accessible by trekking through jungle paths or by taking a boat.

Koh Phangan has to offer many popular activities one being snorkeling at many of Ko Phangan beaches, one bay in particular is in the northeast side near by Ko Ma.
For some of you who find Koh Samui too overdeveloped or too busy with holiday makers, Phangan is the greatest place to chill and relax in Thailand.
The southeastern part of Kohpangan is the main party area including HadRin and the full moon party beach. Nearly all of the area around Had Rin is mountainious making most of the excellent white beaches unable to reach by road, the only way to get to them is by longtail boat from Haad Rin.
Koh Phangan is about 2 1/2 hours from Surat Thani Province and about 45 min. from Samui by boat. The easiest way from BKK to Phangan would be to get ajoint ticket from Songserm Travel who operates joint ticket for (Boats and Express boats, bus, train, air) to Koh Phangan. Or another option is to get an 1 hr. flight by Bangkok Airways daily from Bangkok to Samui and get the catamaran speed boat to Phangan.
Still many think Phangan is only a place for backpackers or party freaks and everything focused on the Full Moon Party on Haad Rin beach. But this is a large island and Haad Rin is only a tiny and isolated part of it.
